Nature’s effects aren’t made super obvious in the games, and kids who know nothing about them will catch Pokémon that they like with a shitty nature and assume the Pokémon is shit. I’m not saying natures are all bad, I just think they’re a poorly implemented mechanic in a game targeted at young kids. Getting Pokémon with the right natures is overly tedious and I think the mechanic should be overhauled or scrapped.

I’m aware of that, but the game never specifies that it does so, nor what the colors mean. It’s just annoying to me that you get a starter and you’re supposed to be bros with it but guess what it’s modest and it’s best moves are all physical attacks and it’s base SpA is shit AND it’s iv’s are trash. Again, I get it for competitive play but natures and ivs are overly complicated and, I believe, ultimately dissapointing for the target demographic.

It’s just semi-nostalgia for the 1st two generations. I liked that I could catch a mon and use it for what it was supposed to be. You don’t have to project onto me because I have a criticism of a game mechanic. I’m sure there are things you don’t like about Pokémon too.

Sucked that they didn't go all the way and let you fix natures in addition to IVs. I like the idea of it at least being possible to train anything you catch on your journey up to being competitively useable.

It adds variety to pokemon, even those of the exact same show species.
Obviously a dog with good genetics and an aggressive nature that's raised well would fare better at fighting than the contrary, but it doesn't mean that a weaker dog couldn't win.
