Not even children want this shit, especially now that they're using move names like "Splishy Splash" and "Buzzy Buzz" as marketing highlights which just makes them feel like infants when previous games were just fine with highlighting moves like Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Z-Move's (usually) bombastic names and the like.
This is a game being marketed towards an audience that lacks the ability to even PLAY a videogame.

The Japanese names are fine, Japan uses a lot of omonapoeia in daily speech, and there's nothing cringy about these names. Whoever translated them into English is either someone that knows Japanese on a really fucking basic level, or someone that thinks American adults go around saying "the water goes splishy splash" in public.
