I think its because it wasnt trendy to like pokemon in the late 00s so the only fans were the previous gen around from the start like me + autistic children. Between said autistic children, only the dumbest ones would be nostalgiafags, so you get this autistic+dumb retard+ antisocial combo going.
I saw this happen with other nintendo franchises when the gamecube babies grew into their teens, but ds babies are way worse than those too, since pokemon franchise still has consistent good games and most recent ones are way better than the ds ones.
