Not only that, but the move literally has nothing to do with Electric-Type except that it’s being used by Pikachu who is Electric-Type. The only moves we have whose names give possibly erroneous type correlations are Rock Smash/Climb (which is just because they have another type’s name in them, even as a kid I never got confused) and Kyurem’s signature moves (since they could be Ice or Fire/Electric based on their names). There is literally no basis or point to calling a Water-Type move “Teravolt Tackle” when not only are there plenty of better alliterative names indicating that it is a Water-Type move, or even better alliterative names indicating it’s a Water-Type move used exclusively by an Electric Pokemon, they’re all brain-dead simple.

Teravolt-Special version, specifically designed for a dragon-electric type
Teravolt Tackle-An electric move, that thanks to it's typing, water, can hit ground type moves, which it normally cannot do. Because it's like Mold Breaker, or Teravolt, the ability, and can hit the enemy regardless

You know what, maybe Splishy Splashy does appeal more to the core pokemon audience, if this is "Too Deep 4 U"

It's not too deep, it just doesn't make any sense. Tera presumably means 10^12 here, as in mega, peta, yota etc, it's just saying a billion volts in a cooler way. Hence its ability to hit anything, it's such a high voltage that typing no longer matters, plus tera sounds like terror so you have a pun.

Nothing about the term "Teravolt" implies that it has anything to do with water. Neither does the term "tackle" If you want to imply that it's special because of its water typing there are loads of less convoluted ways to do that, with an etymolgy derrived from words that imply that themselves, rather than a weird roundabout etymology based on abilities and moves other pokemon use that no one is going to get.

Electrolyte is the obvious name basis for a water move learned by an electric poke.
