>>36522245Personally, I've always thought that pokemon battles in-universe aren't as limited by the game mechanics, like 4-moves and such, so the battles are way more organic (like in pokken).
This is also reflected in that there aren't "concise" moves as we normally understand them, but rather pokemon having different capacities that humans just approximate so it makes sense to train or commentate on battles.
For example, a Blastoise and a Sigilyph wouldn't shoot an "ice beam" the same way, but it'd still be called "ice beam".
That also means there is a consensus about what kind of movements and actions are called like for most species, but trainers aren't obligated to use those names. A person could train his pokemon with different instructions and maybe had their own names for different actions (like they trained in 3 different ways of using what we would call "ice beam"). Just like different dog trainers have different ways to call for the same instruction.
Regarding TMs, I think they just teach skills that pokemon are able to learn but don't normally do when they're left alone in nature. So normally you wouldn't see them in nature with TM moves, and you would be able to "awake" certain skills with a lot of training and effort (and knowing what you are doing), but it's still much faster to use a TM to awake those and pass directly to the training.
