>Supposedly normal start to a normal game>Go to get your starter>Surprise, your region's professor is a fucking mad scientist>You get the choice between three different Pokemon heads>They're still alive somehow (think the Spy head from Meet the Medic) and can still battle and whatnot>However, you have to do stuff with them in Amie/Refresh in order to keep their spirits up, since, you know, they lost their body, that's bound to mentally scar 'em and whatnot>If you don't, their stats plummet and then they die>If you let your starter die, you get a new one, this time with a body>But if you keep it alive, at a certain point you can restore your starter to full- and if you do, it turns out it has perfect IVs, the hidden ability, and may very well be a shiny, your reward for getting it that far
