We don't see Kiawe's Marowak or Sophocles' Charjabug anywhere, neither do we see Ash's Rowlet, Lycanroc, and Torracat. (I still think Torracat will evolve; there is too much support for it not to.) In any case though, it is clear now Litten is Ash's true starter. Hau was given Dartrix to show that he has a type diasdvantage against Ash's Torracat. (For the record, we had Gary using Blastoise against Charizard; superior type advantage. May had Blaziken as type advantage over Ash's Sceptile. Barry had Empoleon as type advantage over Ash's Chimchar. Trip had Serperior to show he has an advantage over Ash, while Bianca had Emboar to show she was at a disadvantage. Ash's first Unova starter was Oshawott.)
