That depends on what you mean. They have their own staff, and offices, and license their own products.

It's just that all of it is, as you say, reliant on the blessing of the three parent companies, who can veto anything.

Anybody who thought this wasn't a main series game was just plain retarded. LGPE were developed by Game Freak, have many of the same mechanics as other main series games, and even use many off the same assets as other main series titles. A case could still be made for Let's Go being its own separate series if Game Freak wants to develop more of them, but it's not a spinoff by any means.

In Japanese, it uses the "Pocket Monster" title, which every main series game uses, with the exception of the Stadium series, and that's because they have major compatabilitywith the main series games.
Game Freak themselves said that they see Lets Go as a remake of Yellow version. Yellow version is a main series game.
Only retards are still in denial at this point.
