Masuda doesn't want to make LGPE any more than we want him to. GF is trying to branch out with projects like Town (which looks abominably shit but hey what can you do) while knowing that they're chained forever to the monkeys paw of having inadvertently created one of the biggest child-oriented media franchises in the world.
Everything Masuda says is justification for pumping out a quick cash grab that's super familiar and comfortable to young audiences but mind-numbing for the people developing it.
