Remember when everybody used to defend XY, SM and USUM to death before the release and now they joined the side who hate on these games?
The same will happen after the first month of LGPE's release.

/vp/ was excited for the first 3D mainline game, this was after B2W2 so everyone was still rather hopeful and didn't think they'd get fucked raw. And even after XY, people still thought we'd get Z or ZX/ZY or some shit to fix XY's mistakes, then we got the total flacid remakes that were ORAS and Gen 6 basically got cut short for SM that everyone began to truly loathe it.

I stopped using /vp/ around SM hype season because of the starter leaks (and wars were at their worst) so I wouldn't be sure that most of this board was defending SM to the death, but I can bet there were was a general air of fear from the main changes Gen 7 had (removal of gyms and introduction of totems)

Definitively BW2 were better and the new Exp. Share was a mistake, but XY felt really cool for me. I ocassionally go back to play some triple battles and shiny hunt. I also enjoyed ORAS quite a lot despite the lack of Battle Frontier.

People can say that people are only starting to like XY now after hating it five years ago, but there are people like me who were retarded enough to immortalise their gushing over it on the internet via social media even long after it came out - ESPECIALLY over Pokemon-Amie. I wouldn't have stuck over 1500 hours into XY if I hated the fuck out of them like I do with SM, especially with how much they improved breeding, EV training and the ease of getting shinies.

I don't think so. In the times before ORAS and SM release there was at least a little "I hope these games will be good" sentiment, and even a small one or two months honeymoon.
Now what I see is total but justified disappointment. These games look like what a hobbyist would give to you after a 20 hour game programming camp and caffeine poisoning.

I'm still mad about it. Third versions are cancer, but XY had so much potential of being absolutely great. The games were clearly unfinished, and a third version that only filled in the gaps and made a few tweaks would have been fantastic in this situation.
