>>36557479There's also the rise of rapid spin and defog and more threats that you need to consider in teambuilding that can't be covered in 1-2 slots. Suicide leads are still somewhat common on HO builds, but your average team prefers a more bulky rocks setter
>>36557380Actually, it made stall insanely good since most pokemon that could threaten it (Lele, T-tar, Heatran) all got trapped and destroyed by it. Stall took such a big hit afterwards it took a while for it to see a lot of use and even now stall isn't what it was during the Dugtrio/Gothitelle days
>>36557510The problem with complex bans is that it ultimately creates a far bigger barrier to entry as well as usually resulting in the root problem not being fixed. Look at Baton Pass, it went through 3 separate kinds of bans that didn't actually fix anything before they had to ban it outright. Or a lesser known example of type bans in Monotype, banning one pokemon on one type but allowing it on the other. It was a complete mess.
You said Gamefrea doesn't balance, and doesn't do it at ALL for singles, so pokemon like Naganadel or Pheromosa or abilities like Shadow Tag or moves like Baton Pass pass through because they're fine in doubles.
This wouldn't be an issue if the main campaign of the game wasn't almost entirely single battles, so most players end up preferring that
Also play Monotype, it's actually really balanced and fun
