Anime has shown how wars were, just a fuckton of Pokemon fighting at once. Since everyone can use Pokemon and has them in their world I can only assume that almost everyone fought in wars one way or another, I mean they had a draft with AZ, right? Strong, Brutish Pokemon on the front lines while agile ones mostly those that can fly go for flanks. People themselves also fought too, I imagine there were a lot of Pokemon that were cut down by someone's sword or destroyed by a canon.
I mean, seriously imagine a fucking canon crashing into a Tyranitar's head, it'd be fucking dead.
