The only time this has actually pissed me off is with Liberty Island in BW. Usually the legendaries are cordoned off in lategame areas and such, but Victini is reachable right when you reach Castelia and is even integrated into the story by having some exclusive level-appropriate Plasma Grunts to battle, with Victini itself at a low enough level that it's plausible to attempt capturing it right then and there while you're on your story adventure. Not having that optional content to explore on new playthroughs fucking sucks, even if I don't want to use Victini.

IIRC the officially stated reason was people cheating/glitching (anyone remember tweaking or the E4 door glitch in DP?) to get into those areas. So they’re basically punishing the players for their own poor coding skills.

I hate how mythicals now barely have anything to do with the lore of the game. Mew is related to Mewtwo, Mr. Fuji, and the Cinnabar Mansion. Celebi is hinted at in Ilex Forest. Meanwhile, Volcanion and Zeraora may as well be random midgame shitmons.

The weirder change is Nintendo switching from local wireless to serial codes, but that's understandable when you see how many ROMs for the events are floating around on the internet and how many distro carts you can find on eBay.

Do you know how hard 3D graphics and game logic is to write as compared with a PHP imageboard? Couple this with the fact that game dev is the armpit of the tech industry with low wages and long hours.
