Between GS and Crystal it started to plummet. No transferring Pokemon to RS (and RS lacking the full National Dex) was the final nail in Pokemania's coffin, IMO.

This was it. I remember the anger over that and more over the data for then-uncatchable mons being in the game storage and then the surprise of the FRLG remakes. Most people didn't wanna go through all of that work again to make a team.

I honestly didn't care that much when I was six. Mudkip was the new best thing ever, Colosseum wasn't too far ahead and then a little more time brought us FRLG.
What DID piss me off as a six/seven year old was accidentally fucking my SP's link port.

Me too anon.
My favorite Pokemon ever was the Mareep line and I wanted them back so bad. Lots of Gen 1/2 mons straight up weren't in the RS200 that I absolutely loved and not having them soured the games for me desu.
Coincidentally, bringing them back is what really made Colosseum and FRLG for me.

Technically while Tajiri never fully designed a Pokemon, we know we did give ideas for Pokemon. Magnemite & Magneton was his idea at least, and him and Morimoto put Mew in the game together. Sugimori also said he designed Mewtwo based on the planner's rough sketch, and he didn't say who that planner was but it was probably Tajiri.
