only thing i dislike from yokai are the...well, majority of the yokai, aside from the mascot and its versions, jibuyan should be in smash tbqh

Oh, that makes sense then. On that note, does YW3 play better than the first two games? You didn't mention it so I'm wondering because from what footage I've seen of it, the battle system seems to be the same.

YW3 turns the rotational style combat into a grid-based system like out of Megaman Battle Network. Base attacks/actions are still done on their own (can be manipulated by items and skills), but you'll be doing a lot more to keep them alive with some of the more busier battles in 3 than in 1+2.
You could even say the post-game free DLC update also shifted the gameplay focus to mystery dungeon-styled action game thanks to Busters T

For everyone who hates yw1 and yw2 battle system, you have to think of it as an rpg like dragon quest when you set a strategy and you let the yokai fight, but you do actions in real time like special moves and stopping debuffs.
This allows to play 3 yokais at a time without making you chose 3 actions every turn, and the best thing in my opinion is being allowed to play your favorite "shitmons" because you can use them with stronger ones at the same time.
