Gen 3 DID have a day/night cycle. Otherwise Eevee wouldn't be able to evolve into Espeon or Umbreon.

It was visually always day, but the day/night cycle did exist.

Why would they care to deliberately show it? That's my point. You don't see them demonstrating that you can pick the complexion of the player, yet Serebii confirmed you can when he played through.

And the audience LGPE is trying to target doesn't know anything about games past Gen 1 with vague knowledge of Gen 2, thus they get to spend all their marketing on re-introducing the features LGPE removed in order to mask the fact that Gen 8 will be extremely shallow games with even more handholding, poor optimization, fade-out sequences filled with exposition you don't give a fuck about and nonexistent postgame.

There's absolutely nothing that proves this statement will be true, so as far as we know Gen 8 will be just as casual as LGPE minus the removal of features and they only said it would be geared towards veterans for the sake of damage controlling.

Pokemon is propped up entirely by its anime, TCG, and merchandise. If its games were all it had, it would at best be a B-tier Nintendo series instead of their top franchise.
