Things went downhill after B2W2 and then REALLY downhill from SM onwards. USUM was a slight bounce upwards, but not enough to negate the plunges of SM and LGPE.

I’ve played all the main series games, also the N64 and GameCube games and I enjoyed all of them. Each game to me was neither better or worse than anyone on here says. They were all Pokémon games, and were all fun. What I’m trying to say is that if you’re a true fan of the series then you will most likely enjoy your experience with each for different reasons. Supposedly as long as you’re not nitpicking the shit out of the game for not being the best thing you’ve ever played, or expecting it to be pile of shit.

Yes, Black 2. XY. X in particular, has a good story, but the game is laughably easy, and USUM is what happens when you make sevii islands into it's own region, and introduce a cutscene every 2 minutes(Takes you about 20 minutes to get your starter and get to your first pokemon center, not even joking). They also removed pretty much all side locations to explore and replaced HMs with rental pokemon that fulfill those roles for you, making the game feel like an amusement park

I'd say, it's biggest selling point has always been the emotional commitment the game creates between you and your pokemon, or the concept of pokemon itself. So if you want to have a good time with it, don't give it too much of a tought and let it just tell you the story it wants to tell. It has gotten a bit handholdy at beggining, but it is nothing unbearable as /vp/ would like to make you think.
