I think it's everyone is very cynical especially nowadays. I personally had a good time with the Ultra games but I didn't get the base game either. So looking at the Ultra changes, yeah I can see why somebody might be somewhat distrusting towards GF. Especially with how LGPE is looking. And as I understand this climate has been around since gen 6? Yeah enough time of people not getting what they were looking for and even legitimately good things might start to have an asterisk over it. Which is the only reason I can think of for why people here seem to expect everything to fail.

I don't think it's as toxic as the Amino or Youtube audience, but I don't think it's good either. I frequent this board a lot, and enjoy it, but a lot of this community is centered around blind rage and argument deconstruction. It's like no one even knows how to debate, and if you try to be open to discussion, it's disregarded and someone starts acting cynical and immature, claiming the opposite is true.

I know that is a pretty specific thing to have faults with, but it's there in every thread.

This right here. Debating, as in actual discussion with points and counterpoints, is one of the hardest things to do here. Like I was talking about gen 7 as a whole. The parts I liked and the parts I didn't like and gave supporting evidence as to why. And it was like I was speaking another language. I was a Kyogrefag because I didn't call the game unequivocal shit but I was simultaneously a Groudonfag because I didn't call the game fantastic in all regards. Like is a middle ground even possible?

Thing is there are things about gen 6 and 7 that I FUCKING HATE. Rotom Dex is a massive red flag for that one. And Festival Plaza can sit in that dumpster fire too. There's also things that I really really liked. Regional variants are a fantastic idea and for me totem battles were better than gym leaders. But it's like capulets and montagues here where there can be zero overlap, if one of the mechanics are shit then they're all shit. But no one even bothers to explain why

All Emerald has for post game is BF. There are technically more stuff to do for ORAS post-game like hunting legendaries, the Delta Episode (even if it's a one time deal), Battle Maison, and updated E4 rematches.
