No, Shudo was crazy. Not all of his ideas were good, but he was at least imaginative enough to give the Pokemon universe an exotic, mysterious quality that left an impact on a generation of fans.
The same can't be said for anyone who picked up the series from Best Wishes+. As far as I'm concerned, the anime ended when Ash lost to Tobias.

I like Shudo's original idea a lot more than what we ended up getting. It also might have given an explanation as to why Pokemon has references to real world animals and such, which to my knowledge have not been retconned.
