Yeah but to be fair, no matter what you did, banning legendaries or the like, the competitive meta would still default to everyone using the same 10 or so Pokémon, just different ones than we see now.

Not sure about vgc18 but last year was:
Arcanine, Tapu Fini, Kartana, Celesteela, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Porygon2, Garchomp

Every (good) team had at least one of these if not multiple.

Now that legendaries are unbanned, Kyogre and Lando-T are good but Incineroar is really popular at the moment.
