>>36599596The problem is that the first stages don't look like baby forms of those things at all.
Your pic is really uncanny. It's like seeing a human holding a baby sea lion, especially creepy since Ballio has fingers, humanoid teeth and lacks a snout for some reason. It should be a wholesome picture about a parent interacting with its kid, but it's nightmare fuel to me. And what's with that tail? It's smaller than Popplio's. How does it stand up on THAT the entire time?
Rowlet's evolution is plain gross. What are those legs? Again, how does it even stand up and move? Why are they like that? Where are the talons? WHAT ARE THOSE WINGS? Why would you turn the cutest first stage into the edgiest design ever? The mega completely abandons the color scheme.
Litten's evolution is ugly and boring, but at least it's consistent and not creepy to imagine interacting with its previous stage. It looks so out of place with the other two fake starters, though. Why make two of them extremely humanoid and the third as animalistic as possible? Consistency has always been a priority in starter trios. These don't feel coherent at all.
A lot of weird decisions with these designs desu.
