Battle Facilities are unfair and therefore unfun as fuck. The one worth anything is the version introduced in Plat where an entire area of the map exists to explore. At this point I think "The Battle Frontier project has started!" meme is more of a jab at GF's laziness and incompetence rather than people genuinely missing it.
Either that or it was always like this because anyone unironically enjoying these cheap "distractions" is a genuine 'tard.
