So why was Brock allowed to stay in the anime for like 5 more seasons when they could've used the male protag AND the female protag but Misty is like "fucking get outta my house bitch."?

Seriously if you're gonna bring May, Dawn and Serena bring in Brendan, Lucas, and Calem.

It's not Brock's fault that she got booted off, and you're right, him still being on should've prompted them to keep Misty too but I guess people would have gotten bored of watching the same twerps for 4 seasons.

The answer is because when they did try to replace Brock, the fanbase hated it and wanted him back.

Also they were probably hesitant to do such a drastic cast change (look how butthurt mistyfags are to this day), so they might've wanted to make sure half the cast was still recognizeable in Hoenn.

Finally Shudo, stated that he found Misty to be the weakest and least independent member of the cast, so he wanted to replace her with a stronger character hence May be far more driven.

Still kind of odd he was still around for DP, but I dont mind because he's my favorite character.

One of the producers revealed they unironically only saw prepubescent girls as eye candy for the target audience so they needed to give the boys something new to ogle from time to time. This is also why Iris was picked over the more grown up Hilda, whereas Serena was deaged and made to act like a Twilight self insert.
As for Brock, since he was treated like an actual character, he was kept in due to his popularity, but eventually written out as the character had nowhere to go.

This always bothers me a bit, Brock is a great character, but I would have liked them to give other gym leaders their chance to stand out in the anime and give Ash a different kind of interaction (Obviously this is a perpetual part of the anime)

For example:

Jotho would have been more interesting to have Whitney and Morty as partners, Whitney as a walking problem always making the group take the wrong path, and Morty as an expert in legends explaining the rich mythology of Jotho.

Hoenn with Brawly as the big brother figure, but unlike Brock, carefree, with zero culinary qualities, bringing us chapters where Ash and May have to go through a thousand hardships to get a decent meal, as well as every time they see them trying to cook and fail miserably

Finally Sinnoh could have given us to Candice, changing the dynamics of the group, now being the girls the dominant side, leaving Ash to make tantrums whenever they wanted to go shopping, besides the big sister figure dynamics with Ash has been used very little.

Misty had a vague goal and at first only joined the group to get payment for her bike.

I agree sacking the character was lazy, and they could've easily developed her into a better character, but they wanted new "eyecandy".

Misty as an apprentice gym leader was a wasted opportunity, they could have expanded the lore by showing us the requirements that this occupation requires, regulation, tests, exams, and finally give a closing to the arch of the character with the obtaining of her title, her exit of the group would have been similar, but it would not have been so abrupt.

Because Brock was added to be "that smart guy that can explain mechanics and shit to the other characters/the audience", a type of character genuinely necessary for the show. Misty was added to be "the girl", and they ran out of shit for her to do really fast. So while Johto had Brock doing his job of standing around expositioning the way he was meant to, Misty was just standing there doing nothing, waiting for the semiannual Misty episode where she stumbled over some Water Pokemon-related plot to get involved in. That's why they decided to give her the boot and replace her with a new female character with an actual subplot she could participate in in addition to being the token girl.

That'd feel super forced and make the character feel even more like she had no purpose on the show so they had to keep making her magically get interested in whatever sidequesty thing the next games had to defend not dropping her. It's much better to just make new characters that come with new personalities, interests and actually thought out character arcs.

I honestly don’t see what’s wrong with swapping out the MC this late into the game when we’re all aware Ash is never going to win anything in his life ever. Just make like Lillie or Gladion the MC for SM & we can maintain slice-of-life while pushing certain Pokemon.

to be fair, TR haven't really been that focused on Ash/Pikachu this series, they were in Alola before Ash was and they didn't know he was there or going there.
Also the SM series has been quite different to the rest of the series.

Brock was written out not because he wasn't a popular character, but because from BW+ the show did a total reset. Ash's story finished with Tobias, they only kept him around because of Pikachu.
Brock was a good character who was well liked by the cast. His appearance in SM reminded everyone how much permanent development he had compared to Ash. He was obviously close to Yuji Ueda's heart and Ueda stumps for him a lot since he's still a big part of the voice cast.
