How is this not a Yellow remake again? that game was made for the ashime fans while this one is for the Go crowd. Same concept just with a different product.

It's an experimental anomaly of a game. Not quite Gen 7 yet (since you can't use any Gen 7 Pokemon besides possibly Nut-chan) definitely not Gen 8 (since the anime and TCG are still treating their LGPE tie-ins as part of the Sun & Moon era and VGC is still using USUM). Not quite a mainline game since it removes so many stuff yet it's a remake of one of the very first mainline game and is officially grouped with the main games on pokemon.com.

Congratulations you're unstoppable now because Nidoking has more HP and attack than anything that early in the game and will only get more powerful as you progress. Pikachu is fucking useless.

There are some games I classify differently (like TCG2 being gen 1 since you don't even see anything from gen 2 there). LGPE feel like they are graphically overhauled gen 1 mixed with GO.

Lack of the features known for years doesn't make me doubt its core title, however the alteration of the formula definitely does. When you change the core elements of the series (wild battles, box system, stats and their growth, connectivity etc.) then there will be people calling bullshit on marketing

But in 2016 Serebii said that if a main Pokémon game includes new Pokémon then it's a new generation. That means SM is gen 7, USUM is gen 8 and LGPE is gen 9.

"generations" are a thing fans made up. It worked out fine as long as the series followed the old pattern of introducing at least 100 new Pokémon in a new major game once every 3-4 years, but the Internet changed this, now all the Pokémon are slowly revealed online all the time.
