The only bad thing about Yokai Watch is the shit recruitment system.
The games themselves are miles better than what GF put out on the 3DS, and people who shit on the series for a few early game designs they don't like are no different than the retards who cherrypick the same few Gen 1 or 5 designs to call the whole dex shit.

Honestly I play more yokai watch and smt than i do pokemon any more. I have every pokemon game beaten within 2 days it comes out and yet smt and yokai take me roughly a week just to beat the main story alone. Feels bad that GF refuses to put any effort forward
