The battle system was updated to the then current standards, so abilities, held items were in the game.
No basic features were removed compared to Red & Green.
LGPE, is a 2018 remake of Yellow (which was 2 years AFTER Red & Green) on a much more potent console than the GBA.
So this yellow remake should AT LEAST do everything FRLG did in its time :
>not removing 81% of the pokémon that currently exist>updating the battle system to the current standards (abilities, items, megas, z-moves)>or at least not removing the basic features of this system (wild battles, abilities, items) while keeping the most superfluous features of it (megas, partner powers [read : z-moves])
