As someone who likes X and Y, I agree that screwing Gen 6's chance of a third version or sequel is the biggest mistake GF has ever done. Looks like a remake is one last chance for XY to redeem themselves.

The biggest one was releasing a beta for an anniversary no one gave a shit about because of Masuda's absurd notion that rushing yearly games lacking in quality is a goal to aspire to presumably for thinking the best example of a modern development company is 2K.

As someone who actually loves gen 6, I admit it had a lot of flaws and people usually compare it to third versions. Pokemon Z would have polished a lot of its flaws and made it a quite great gen.

The truth is that GF should stop releasing unfinished games only to release some cash grab third version or "ultra changes". But yes, I believe XY had a lot of potential to be so much more and that a polished third version would have been an amazing game.

X and Y are my favorites, but I definitely was expecting a sequel. The games admittedly felt somewhat empty with a lot of landmarks/areas with little significance, which felt like scaffolds that were going to be improved upon in the next games. X and Y had a great atmosphere and Kalos is a beautiful region, they only needed to add a good story surrounding zygarde, more Megas, more customization options, and some post-game content to make perfect games. I feel like we really missed out on something good, X and Y seem like they were made with a sequel in mind like SM obviously were

No, releasing USUM in its current state was its biggest mistake. They could have delayed USUM to late 2018 and actually put effort in. Then the 3ds would have a nice swansong, hardcore fans would have something to play until pokemon 2019 on switch. Instead they released lazy trash one year later.

This was never going to happen, 3rd edition or not.

PWT was a fitting end for the 2D Era of games. Putting it AGAIN in the BEGINNING of the 3D Era wouldn't have made sense.

As for the latter, it's obvious GF thinks the games' fanbase is full of nothing but kids, so they wouldn't have put it in either.

The rest of the points are fair enough. That's the worst part really, a Pokémon Z could have made Gen. 6 a lot better than it was.

Blame video game economics and you GameStop fags who just want to spend $10 on a Happy Meal instead of Nintendo.
It's not surprising, troubled development aside, video game quality was much higher before the internet went mainstream. At least GF is still making games, subpar shitty quality though they be.
You could be a Valve fan still waiting for Half-Life 3. At this point isn't Team Fortress 2 older than Team Fortress was when TF2 came out?

Honestly yes. Replaying X&Y i'm always struck by how good the first third is. It starts to break down around the time they start introducing the Megas Lore. Failure to manage rivals (even though BW perfected multiple rivals) & incoherent villain plans/representation really noticeable.

The failure to make Megas casual after their introduction also maddening, or improve gym leaders team in general.

Diatha also needed a rebuilt team and a greater role in story. Same for Malva, the fact it feels there is no ramifications to her being Team Flare is crazy.

We needed like a sequel with south Kalos.

You first visit South Kalos to do 8 badges, then north Kalos for another 8 badges but one league just like gen 2 since it's the same region.

After obtaining 8 badges you gotta do a pokemon league conference like in the anime. (May be scripted to who you fight or random out of a pool of about 20 trainer. The final match is against your rival.

Then you get the trophy and collect the remaining 8 other badges of Kalos and then you fight the E4 and the champ in north Kalos.

Woule be absolutely amazing.

This is what I noticed too when I recently replayed Y. You get a lot of crap done in the first few hours without too much padding, but it falls apart hard with the Kanto pandering and megas.

They needed to cut down the Kanto shilling. No Snorlax, Lapras and make the Kanto starters a post-game thing. Way too many giftmons.

Pretty much what I accounted for in >>36637032. The plot is even about Mega Evolution and yet the player wouldn't be able to do it until Shalour City, which is the 6th gym in this scenario.

Incidental side note since I never mentioned it anywhere, when you visit Lumiose you only have access to the North boulevard at first, then central on the revisit, and the South boulevard is only accessible after getting to Camphrier Town. This is intended as an inversion of XY since you're circumnavigating the region in reverse this time.
