Makuhita line were the Machop line but 2 stages instead
Spheal line were the Seel line but 3 stages
Lotad and Seedot lines reused the “version exclusive three-stage grass line that requires a stone to reach the final stage” idea from Oddish and Bellsprout lines
They’ve always been reusing ideas, but drastically alter their species + concept and add some extra differences(alt forms, alt evos, extra stage, etc). The only difference is that Gen 5 made the similarities allot more blatant
