Its sad, but you are right.
I wish nintendo had the guts to gave Genius Sonority a oportunity to create a mainline game (gen 4) on the wii, it would have been huge, considering the userbase of that console.

They did, but they bombed it. They didn't have enough time to make a new game, and updated graphics and new hardware to work on, so they literally only had time to touch up some of the outdated N64 models, make the new mons and create a new stadium like game. I guarantee you that all the assets in game, the arenas and trainers, ect had some story mode behind it until a certain point
