RS: was challenging, and was something you went out of your way for, but had a great payoff
Emerald: same, but you had to go there for the story, and then again later if you wanted to capture the big oaf

Works as a short optional area but it was no Cerulean Cave/Mt. Silver. I think that that is the one instance of "Why isn't this like the old games?" that I did hold against R/S from the start. ORAS increased the wild Pokemon variety a bit but kept it realistic which I disagree with but respect. I can go both ways on the bike puzzle; it doesn't take too long but unlike the aforementioned Sky Pillar only has one point of interest and you might want to get it over with. ORAS turning it explicitly into Ray's roost doesn't bother me too much because the thing felt too nondescript to speculate over, and the mural is sweet.

I remember it being annoying to get the correct movement as a kid, but now that I think about it, this along with the Regi puzzles makes me truly believe that RSE has one of, if not the, best ways of handling non-box legendaries.
