Why do people think not using a feature the game gives you is an argument? Just face it a fight in a Pokémon game really isn’t that hard unless your force your own rules on yourself.

This thing is roughly 5-8 levels higher than you, has + 1 in all stats AND has a 100 bp stab move that it spams, it's difficult no matter what the fuck you do and I doubt anyone beat this on their first try without looking up a guide.

Yeah. Necrozma never got to sniff half my team, I was never even close to being wiped out, and it didn't require any special strategy. If I replayed that battle 100 times, I'd lose maybe once even without items, if twave missed multiple times. I don't even consider it the hardest totem of the game since it has no helpers and your team is fully evolved when you face it. I don't even run strong mons. If I went with mons I thought were the most powerful in a playthrough it would be even easier, but I wanted to mess with mons like Oricorio and Basculin that I'd never used before.

USUM is the hardest game in my opinion, but some mechanics make it a lot easier: Roto Loto, affection bullshit and Lillie and Hau healing your Pokémon everytime. It would feel more challenging without all that shit.
About Ultra-Necrozma, the fact that you need a specific strategy, Item (Focus Sash) or Pokémon is enough to prove that this fight is indeed diffult, when was the last time in Pokémon that you stoped and think "how can I win this?"

Artificial means that you Auto win if your Pokemon is a higher level. And more difficult would be smarter AI and teams and movesets.

Inflating the games difficulty wouldnt hurt
but its never going to be hard for anyone who understands competitive battle mechanics

the games have to be beatable by kids who might only fill their move slots with damaging moves only.
