>>36667634The problem is people treat pokemon different than any other RPG. They know EVERYTHING about the system mechanics already, they know what the base stats are, what moves are good, what the types and type matchups are, how to manage a team, how stat buffs and ailments work items etc etc.
For a kid just getting in it's actually quite complex for an rpg, and I would argue going back to yellow the first gym was straight up unfair even for old school japanese rpg standards.
Pokemon really needs a hardmode however, there just isn't an excuse anymore, and the level design and pokemon designs need to go back to gen 3 or 4 levels atleast. Idk why they railroad kids down a straight line when the core gameplay hasn't been nerfed to shit, just made easier.
