So what are the arguments for Gen 8 looking like it's going to be good? I don't understand how people can hold onto hope that it'll be good considering the previous gens and LGPE. I'm genuinely curious.

I'm going in with a very critical eye for Gen 8 news. Gen 7 was my first pre-release season for a new Pokemon gen (long story short, grew up in OG PokeMania, but never played the mainline games til like, 3 years ago. Basically at the middle to tailend of Gen 6 while checking out the earlier gens), and I felt like the hype only set me up for disappointment.

I'm personally a little doubtful of that, but I don't think it's TOO out of the question to assume. And the fact is that we really just don't know how much of Let's Go's influence will be in gen 8. Will there be some? All? None? Or will a generation AFTER that be the one to have Let's Go's influence in mind? That generation will probably have the one with Let's Go's feedback in mind, too

So, it's honestly just hard to know how Pokemon is gonna be like. We just don't know yet. Although, personally, I'd like to see no more random encounters, Secret Techniques, and Pokemon following you in the overworld and pointing out where hidden items are in future Pokemon titles. Those are mechanics that I think are good! But everything else about Let's Go can stay in the trash

Gen 8 trailers need to show me at least 6 things I will like.
I expect they will leave riding pokemon and update HMs to be affected to pokemon.
Hope they will bring back wild battles but keep catching mechanic and double play
I also hope for 2 modes.

A true critic isn't going to be mindlessly negative which is literally all /vp/ ever is. You don't have an argument for a Gen 8 that you know nothing about. Your only argument is "this franchise has been bad for a while now" which again, makes me wonder why you care so much to criticize it.
