Gen III is the last real Pokemon generation. Not only in that the Hoeen region and it's Pokemon are the last ones made with love, but everything else after #386 Deoxys is non-canon to me. It's sort of like in Spongebob, after the movie the original writers left and the quality went down dramatically. Pokemon #387+ are essentially just fan art to me

Anyone else see this divide?

I don't see how it's possible for anything but a minority of Hoenn fans to dislike Sinnoh. I think of those two as going hand in hand, like Kanto and Johto, or BW/BW2.

I'm at a certain level. Really, I expect to evolve at that level, and delaying it even longer when it's necessary to get stronger (can't fly until you're Charizard; can't use Earthquake until you're Marshtomp) is needless, annoying BS.

1. Your character and his friend are more independent. You are not tied to any organisation since every team is self-reliant.
2. You have your own house (made in your image) which you can upgrade.
3. The main story doesn't overuse flashbacks and it doesn't make you lose in cutscenes.
4. Items stack in Kangaskhan's store. They are also more valuable.
5. Gummis are guaranteed to give you stat boosts.
6. IQ skills are less annoying since you are not locked from getting the good ones and enemies don't abuse retarded Intimidation.
7. Legendary Pokemon get their own individual storylines in the postgame.
8. Lack of stupid Cresselia + Darkrai part.
9. Friend Areas. It's a big feature and you can't ignore it.

It isn't specially brave either (remember the "stomachache"?). It just follows the player for the sake of gameplay. They try to make it look like a good loyal friend but it simply comes off as obsessed. And it becomes just another recruit after the story! Meanwhile the PMD2 partner gets over their issues, actually becomes "not a pussy" and stays with you for the rest of the game.

Your precious RT introduced that in the first place. Explorers just went with it and at least made it relevant to the story. Idiot.

I agree. I was sad when I first saw Dialga and Palkia. They looked more like something from yu-gi-oh than pokemon. I later liked primal dialga though. I think it also might have to do with the whole god pokemon thing

Nope, it was Gen 5. Say what you want about the Pokemon designs(even though I'll always disagree), but it felt like the last Generation where Gamefreak poured genuine passion into their games. Masuda even had a blog about the whole design process and development of Black/White.

You couldn't be more wrong. Gen 4 is a retread of Gen 2 in many ways more than Gen 3.

Also Gen 3 fans are worse than genwunners. They hate the first 2 generations because the fans didn't like their precious Hoenn games as much. Then the hypocrites hate Gen 4 simply because they want seniority rights too (plus the things about Gen 2). But they pretend to be better by defending BW even though they only see it as the "enemy of my enemies" while not even caring about BW2 as it didn't come with the remakes they expected. And of course, ORAS is the only good thing to come out of Gen 6 even if those aren't as good as the originals.

TL;DR: Hoenn babies are the worst and their hate for Gen 4 is irrational.

Because the game assumes that you will play along with Cresselia's "kill yourself, my man" for a while. I didn't give a rat's ass what she has to say because fucking DIALGA didn't mind me being in the world. Your partner lies to guild members and tries to persuade you to die and your only option to defend yourself is saying "I don't know, something is strange/weird" at one point.
My immersion jumped out the window in that part and I know I'm not the only one who was disappointed with this postgame.

Don't use this argument, newbie. I've played the game a year ago and I LOVED getting all Friend Areas and filling them up (except for Pidgey and Exeggcute, fuck those two).

Everything after Gen 2 is non canon to me. Gen 3 started the weird trend of changing the art style from the first two.
Pic related, the last artwork of RS era Pokemon that still had some semblance of Pokemon's original style.

You're completely entitled to your opinion, OP. Hoenn had some great designs, plots, and atmosphere. Personally, I love the life and character so many Gen III Pokémon have.

But every fan here has this opinion, differentiated only by the generation they grew up playing. Every argument sums up to individual preference, because the merits of a game are completely subjective. It's a shame that you're not able to enjoy newer installments, but it's great that you can still appreciate the generations of your childhood and that you haven't fallen out of favor with the franchise completely.
