I'd be interested to see if this is the classic case of Japanese devs ignoring their western audience, even if bigger, or if the Japanese fanbase hates this shit too and they're just that out of touch/lack of caring.

I enjoy Game Freak interviews for all the wrong reasons. I love seeing what kind of bullshit they convince others due to their laziness and fetishism of making everything "unique for the sake of being unique" even though the main fundamentals of the battle system have been the same for 22 years
