Nope; the opposite. I'm autistic enough to conclude that a real Pokémon Trainer can only properly manage so many Pokémon, especially when fully-evolved, so I only have about 50 "official" Pokémon. 6 from each region (except Unova, where I have 9), plus RE shinies.

They also each have competitive movesets; even the ones that are technically shitmons.

I just do my core favorites, favorite starter, gyarados, steelix/ aggron and switch out the remaining three and have a HM slave. It makes the most sense as you need to evolve a lot of Pokemon to fill out the pokedex.

I can do it in the newer EXP share games but no way I'm grinding enough to do it in the older games. In ORAS I had 18 Pokemon on rotation and they were always just 2-3 levels under the E4 and gyms, was most fun I've ever had

This is possible with SS because the levels rarely go above 40, even in most of the post-game.

Though, I wonder, how the hell do people manage 8+ mons in other games? Is it constant grind rotation, or do you just catch things you like, and rarely end up using them because trainers are too strong?

I tried to juggle like 12 pokemon, they just all felt generic and faceless though. Didn't really get "attached" to them. It was in X, so the exp curve and exp share made things a hassle as well.

Does this even work after the new exp curve was implemented? I remember doing it okay in gen 1, but I imagine that post gen 5, your one single pokemon almost never gets much experience. It would be hard unless you have a really good pokemon with a varied moveset.

Johto's trainers are so low level that all this really does is keep you on pace with them, though

The first 7 were the ones I had through most of the main game, then Gyarados got added late at the lake of rage, and dragonite was a kanto addition
