Unpopular opinions thread

I really wish each sequel of Pokemon had worked to further flesh out the existing ecosystem of Pokemon and mechanics instead of giving us a new Ratata and Pidgey every generation. I'm not saying new Pokemon lines shouldn't exist period by any means, but it should have been done with a mindset of building on pre-existing work instead of an iterative approach that replaces old with new that's lead to the series being bloated with more Pokemon than you can possibly give a fuck about. We didn't need a new Ratata-Raticate every generation more than we needed an addition to make Ratata and Raticate's line more interesting, whether that be a branching evolution, third stage, or something.

Stuff like Gen 2's pre evolutions, branching paths/new evos, and gen 4's branching paths/new evos should have been the standard of future Pokemon games, not exceptions. I want to see existing Pokemon get fleshed out more than I want a new box legendary and route 1 shitmon.
To demonstrate what I mean a little bit, I decided to create a hypothetical evolutionary tree for Pikachu if all of the Pikaclones from the various generations were a part of the Pikachu line as opposed to all being single stages with little reason to exist
