>>36696463In the Bronzong line, many don't see the connection between it and its predecessor because after all, how could a mirror become a bell? Turns out this is in reference to an old Japanese folk tale involving the priesthood of a town asking the local women for their bronze mirrors [glasswork was still a while off] to be melted down into a new church bell. There was one woman who did so with regret in losing her possession and as such when it came time to smelt, that one mirror would refuse to soften or heat. Such is why Bronzong can get Heatproof.
In the case of Beheeyem, on top of its name being a cheeky reference to B.E.M. [Bug Eyed Man, an older term for extraterrestrials], its appearance changes to that of a 40's-50's G-Man, the kind of folks that would be investigating said B.E.M.s given the Roswell incident or even more fitting, someone trying to hide their identity and blend in [which actually makes me really regret that it didn't get to be Normal/Psychic for added effect]. The coloration of the nodes on its hands is also a shout out to the design of the Martians from the first War of the Worlds film adaptation.
