Why wouldn't you be hopeful? Time and again, this series was held back by the hardware (Masuda's gone on record multiple times saying how they wanted to do something, but were unable due to the environment/engine of whatever handheld they were currently working on) and now there's a double-whammy of it not only being THE most powerful piece of kit to host a Core Pokémon game, but also being the easiest Nintendo console to code for that they've worked on. They've made a game for Switch too, making another one in a different IP for it too, which is more experience for the future games those staff will work on, when their current projects ship. And finally, the fact they planned to release the Gen VIII Core game for next year, giving them even more time to get comfortable with the hardware and push what they can do with the series for the first time in 12 years and the jump to the DS. Don't judge Game Freak on VI and VII too harshly, the hardware it ran on was obsolete on launch, which had a knock-on effect for the whole of its lifespan.
