I just watched her arc in the subs, and based on her dialogue and delivery, I got to wondering if she was supposed to have regressive autism. Right now it's just bored speculation, but the obsession with psychic powers, complete disregard for others' emotions and absence of most of her own, swift irritability, antisocial behavior, single tone of voice, and repetitive dialogue meet the symptoms. It could also explain the attachment for her child self before the mental changes manifested and why the bulk of her dialogue is from the child self that hadn't lost social skills yet. This might even explain why there seems to be a lot less Japanese fan art of her anime version (it's likely an unflattering depiction). The only issue is how Haunter could have saved the day at the end.
I know the main purpose of this thread is just dumping softcore fan art, but does anyone think there might be some merit to this?
