Can people tell me why they think Pelipper ISN'T a regional bird? It IS a regional bird, Hoenn just has two, like it has two pseudos.

>Swellow and Pelipper are both early route Hoenn birds found in pretty much the same locations
>they're right next to each other in the pokédex
>Tailow and Wingull have the exact same stats, just with the attack stats swopped. Pelipper and Swellow have the same BST

It's just the typing that trips people up. People think that Talonflame was the first to break the Normal/Flying trend, but we've known that regional birds don't have to be part Normal since Gen III with Wingull and Pelipper.

Just being a bird doesn't make you a regional bird. Don't forget that Gen V stork, which obviously is not the "regional bird" in the relevant sense of "Pidgey-line successor".
If anything, Wingull is the Spearow-line successor.

There's my argument for why Pelipper isn't a regional bird.

It's disappointing that Fletchling is the only time they broke the mold of normal/flying (or its evolve, rather). Then they actually regressed and gave us another normal/flying with Toucannon. I think if they made him a grass/flying and altered the design a bit to be more grassy he would have been more fun and the only grass type with skill link for bullet seed.

they all start out as the default normal/flying type from earliest routes, wingull was basically the spearow in the sense you found it early as well, but ash most of the time had the regional bird in his party, though in SM he has rowlet this time instead of pikipek
