Well I don't think Probopass is included in the shitmon list, but I mean it's not like you're gonna be stopped by the funpolice or nothin', but then maybe you could impose external challenges to make it harder? No healing items/x items or something. Either way it's your run so whatever makes it the most fun for you I'd say go for it, Probopass is still a Pokemon that doesn't get enough love. Also yeah, SR all you want man

You guys inspired me to run through Crystal with my absolute favorite mon. Sorry for not updating along the way, but it turns out that with turbo and not needing to grind you can blast through in about 4 hours. Started fucking up on taking screenshots at the elite four and never really recovered in Kanto but here's the gist of the journey.

Bugsy was by far the biggest roadblock. Falkner was, surprisingly, super easy. Sprout Tower gave me more trouble than he did. I made the mistake of forgetting my only non-grass move before Bugsy. Took about 20 tries until RNG was on my side. Whitney never bothered to use attract so she went down easy. Morty was the only other major challenge of the run. Took him down with good ol sleep abuse. That was about it for challenges. Elite 4 was tough but still only took one try. Nothing in Kanto stood a chance. Red managed to take our spaghetti hero down once but round 2 was easily secured. Did the league again because im dumb. Tangela is best mon.

Sleep Powder abuse got me out of pretty much every tight spot. Once i got headbutt things were pretty easy. I chose Crystal for curse but I never actually ended up getting the TM. Never really needed it though. My love for Tangela grows stronger every day.

Yeah, in all my years of playing Pokemon there has never been a region that leaves me as fatigued as Alola, ESPECIALLY in USUM, even when the games where new I dropped them when I got to the thrid island and it took me a year to even get past the league, and I still haven't played the RR episode. I hope that Gen 8 feels different, cuz I can't take another region like this.
As for a funmon for Hoenn, there's Tropius perhaps? Or maybe Spinda if you're feeling feisty

Tangela idiot here, I had the sudden realization that in all 5 of my Hoenn runs for the autism quest I never got to use my childhood favorite mon. So I'm strapping myself to this hyena. End goal is to defeat Steven, but I'm gonna take my time on this one. I let my notorious raidenfucker friend name my new son. I should've expected this. And so begins our Metal Gear Rising themed journey.

Jack is very unlucky. Constantly missing tackles, like he should not miss that much. Always gets hit by supersonic and then hits himself as much as possible. But I love this poor creature. Luck won't stop us.

Didn't expect to beat Roxanne on the first try. Was fully prepared to throw myself at her until evolution. But nah it went smoothly, bite 2hko'd the geodudes and then I spammed sand-attack on nosepass for a cheap win. Ignoring Brawly for obvious reasons. Took a short detour to the Battle Tent because this a fun run and we're gonna do fun things. Eat your eggs, anons.

Quagsire anon here. I played HG with butterfree first, beat 4 gyms, and stopped because of her great moveset. Restarted HG for a quagsire run, in front of gym 8, only to kind of agree. Should i even bother finishing? The run is getting kind of boring too.

I've shut down a couple of runs because of this. Recently I had a Tangela in Red but even with shitty accuracy, bind is super OP, and apparently sleep power + bind is unstoppable so I didn't even get far enough to learn it. I also started a rampardos because he's my favourite pokemon but I had to grind him up and evolve him to outspeed an otherwise guaranteed OHKO on the second gym and then I quit because he was way beyond too strong especially since Rampardos isn't even a shitmon.

That said though, both of them were absolute bro-tier in their respective games last time I played. Maractus is kinda shit in competitive but damn it's good in-game. Those beautiful Atk and Sp. Atk stats.

About to take on Surge.
I'm already 2 levels past the point where Dratini would normally evolve. So theoretically its from here on out that things will start to get tougher. At the moment though, Dragon Rage still dominates just about everything I encounter.

Surge didn't stand a chance. Electric resist + Dragon Rage + Shed Skin to deal with the paralysis he inflicted made it laughably easy. And then he gave Shock Wave which Jormungand will add to his coverage moves collection.
This run will definitely get much tougher later on but at this point in the game, an overleveled Dragon type with Dragon Rage doesn't meet any meaningful opposition.
3 Badges down, 5 to go.
2 gyms is good progress for today, I think I'll take a break here.

Ooooh, Purugly is a good one! I'm kinda sad that it was kinda forgotten by Game Freak after Diamond/Pearl, I think the only game after Pearl where you can even catch one through normal means is ORAS, and that's way in the postgame!
Hope Game Freak includes the Glameow family (as well as the Stunky family) in the Gen 8 regional dex, they deserve some love man

Finished up Ula'Ula Island tonight. Mimikyu was the toughest totem to deal with so far, mostly because Twinkletoes is frail as fuck and can't handle more than one Play Rough. The Haunter/Gengar minions also love to spam hypnosis

Guzma thankfully was still a non issue since pompomcorio is basically his Golisopod's natural predator. I was forced by plot to pick up a second mon for a required double battle so I got him a temporary dance partner

Nanu caught me off guard because of his first two mons knowing Power Gem, but A-Persian's was weak enough to alternate WorkUp-Roost and nuke his last two mons. Now we just have to rescue Exposition-chan from Aether Paradise and we're off to Poni Island

Bee-lined for Misty because I'm a bit afraid of my rival's charmander. I had to use my two rare candies to quickly bump up my HP to survive two water pulses from Starmie and 3HKO with Thief. Still need to take nugget bridge but her water pulse TM will help me with Charmander among others.

You'll have a fun time against Roxanne, but otherwise with an early Headbutt and eventual access to Dig, there's not much that stands in your way, only thing I can think of is Skarmory (which I believe Linoone gets Thunderbolt for tho) and Solrock/Lunatone

I sent an Egg to Y, and first thing I learnt about Spoink is that it doesn't learn any attacking moves at Level 1. It only knows Splash. You know your mon is bad when it learns that as its first move, kek. The only thing I could do for it is grind it up to Level 7, where it learns Psywave. Luckily the best move it can learn early on is not too far off, so I won't have to rely on it all the time. But while grinding, I also ran into this pic related, who would make a very fancy HM slave

This was tricky, I actually had two opportunities to lose here but got lucky without using savestates at all. Rapidash narrowly survived water pulse but got confused and KO'd itself, and arcanine survived with yellow health but missed with fire blast. The only way to win without further grinding would have been setting up X Special at growlithe or ponyta and risking the OHKO fire blast from either of them. Time to head back to Viridian!

I know right? Lately my Shiny luck has been very weird lately, as I found 4 different mons in two months purely through random encounters (3 of them which are found in early gens). Not that I'm complaining, I'm enjoying my luck quite nicely.
HM Friend is definitely a cute term too, I like it already and might change Zig's name to that when I reach the Name Rater. I haven't thought of a nickname for Spoink I am 100% satisfied with anyway.

Bought a bunch of X Attacks too and used lots while Cloyster spammed Protect. I actually used all my Mega Kick PP on Dewgong and still had to finish it with Fly. Honestly, the rest of this place should be a relative cakewalk.

This was tricky. Hitmonchan has Sky Uppercut which can negate my Fly. I can actually set up an X item on Onix because his rock tomb won't kill surprisingly, but since I dropped aerial ace like a fool I had to rely on Fly since X Special and Ice Beam wouldn't kill Machamp. Luckily the Chan prefers rock tomb.

I'll be dipping my toe into a Porygon run, no updates tonight but I'm mostly checking his validity as a gen 1 shitmon as the list seems to be unsure. He starts with tackle and sharpen so honestly even his early game might be strong, and he'll likely have a full moveset once we arrive at Celadon with boltbeam, psychic and maybe surf or something to fill the slot. On today's not so exciting installment we journeyed through my favorite part of the game. Not much really happened so it's mostly some little postcards from areas I like or lines I've always held some fondness for. Most of these collages tend to be like that, really. These runs are helping me recapture what it was like playing as a kid. Just sort of dicking around and having fun. Enjoying the scenery and overall charm of the games.
Jack hasn't run into any major problems at all, honestly. I doubt he ever will. Gonna try to make up for that by using a legitimate shitmon next mon. I've come too far to shelve this though, just gonna enjoy my relaxing journey. Who knows, maybe Tate and Liza'll take me by surprise.

Next time we'll hopefully at least finish the villain plot. I bought some stuff to decorate a secret base along the way, for sure gonna make that a priority.

Ok, so after beating Elesa I thought this was going to be much easier, but nope, Clay is currently impossible due to rock slide. I'm currently building my level up a bit in hopes that I can at least survive a regular damage rock slide, but my moveset might need a bit of an overhaul. I get giga drain soon, so that could help out immensely. The only other thing that could work for me is if I grind the subway to get double team. I just barely fell short of beating Brock without struggling at level 12. With only Tackle, Sharpen, conversion and 7 potions (most of which were just used to buy time to waste moves for struggle in the final moments), Porygon has defeated gen 1 Brock at perhaps the lowest shitmon level I've run.

Made it to Celadon. Rock Tunnel was pretty easy. Jormungandr made quick work of the wild Pokemon - Shock Wave dispatches Zubats with remarkable efficiency, as does Water Pulse with Geodudes
Now it's time to gamble. Gotta get myself some of those sweet TMs. First priority is Flamethrower for Erika. Ultimately wanna pick up Ice Beam and TBolt as well, but I might come back later for one or both.

Sharpen and tackle sweep again. Took a few tries because of sand attack so I saved a couple of sharpens for Abra (I could OHKO Pidgeotto with a 6x boosted tackle but I'd take on too much sand) and swept the rest. No potions this time.

I had Psybeam for Surge so I'm going to phase out sharpen. Conversion seems really strong defensively, Raichu hit me with a bunch of crit thunderbolts so I had to spam some potions but I beat him on my first try. Gonna switch to super positions/lemonades for future healing.

Here are PRE-E4 stats. Just got through Victory Road at level 51, I have a few rare candies but I'm not going to use them. I'm going take a break before the E4 but by now I'm more than confident that Porygon is NOT a shitmon, he is quite powerful even without overleveling.

Porygon is not a shitmon. Here's a quick rundown of the E4

Porygon was pretty easy overall but lots of fun. He's definitely not overpowered but he clears the game with ease and has good defensive typing and an excellent and diverse move pool. I used a special sweeper set with conversion occasionally for defensive reasons but he has quite a few options.
