The emperor is retiring, which will end the "Heisei" era and the new emperor will start a new one. It's the reason Kamen Rider's been making a big fuss about the "last heisei rider movie" and all that lately.

If you think about it the reason this and many more things are happening can all be traced back to Japan's terrible work etiquette. Look this is gonna sound very off-topic and conspiracy theorist-y but hear me out:

Sounds like a perfect time to do the Gen 2 beta as a full game to me.

And, you know, actually include all of the content meaning no soft reboot except thematically like X/Y because Gen 5's version was still too hard to be good.
