I actually find ORAS as a nice game. Sure, the free Lati@s and the broken Exp. Share make the games way easier, but the region overall is vastly improved. We get better Move Tutors, Soaring, 100 unlimited TMs, stuff like Secret Bases and Contests return, Delta Episode with a free Deoxys event, the Eon Ticket was easier to obtain, and outside of Battle Pyramid and Factory, Emerald's Battle Frontier is greatly overpraised and not that entertaining. ORAS may not have Gym Leader rematches, but you get Elite Four's second round and a final rival encounter, which I find nice, too. Getting the Johto, Sinnoh and Unova starters and legendaries without any kind of event or external games is also a godsent, and the change from a single Mirage Island with only one baby Pokemon and one berry which not a lot of players will ever see for a lot of random islands with various items and Pokemon is also miles better. Also, Dexnav, PSS, Amie and 2 Day Cares is pretty great for me.
Overall, ORAS is actually pretty good, just not the best games out there. People just bash them because of the lack of Battle Frontier and other not so important things. Replaying Emerald with just Blaziken, Swellow and Ludicolo is a cakewalk, too, so difficulty isn't really an issue in any Pokemon game overall.
