Poipole in the OP suggests he'll be back at some point, and the issue above is why he will have to evolve into Naganadel. Same reason we'll see Guzzlord, Kartana and Pheromosa this season as well: the anime needs to hit on a certain number of game concepts or game characters or else it'll fail in its role as a marketing tool.
