What if I don't like the newer model?
I thought the GBA SP was a terrible design, ds lite was pointless, further GBA and DS iterations removed features
so I feel pretty comfortable with my switch

GBA Micro is better than normal and SP. DSi is better than the previous ones. New3DS XL is better than the first one.

No, I imagined it would come from their handheld systems but they haven't done this with a console especially this quick. The only one I can think of is the wii got a new model a few years later. Now of course this is a portable console so anything goes I guess

yeah, the gba micro is pretty cool but I'm not into the lack of gb/c compatibility, same with the DSi
new 3ds XL is the only one that is a substantial enough improvement to actually justify an upgrade, which is why I didn't mention the 3ds line
My point was that these upgrades aren't always perfect upgrades, and there is usually no reason to spend more money

it is way more comfortable than the gba SP, I put a backlike in the og and it's so much better

To be fair I legitimately didn't upgrade my DS until 3DS came out and didn't upgrade my 3DS until the new 2DSXL came out. Didn't see the point in upgrading it otherwise. Don't have a PS4 Pro or upgraded Vita yet either. Probably won't buy an upgraded Switch unless mine breaks or something.

It might just be a handheld-only portable switch with no dock and no HDMI port. Maybe a bit less power to get longer battery life and because it won't need the power for 1080p docked mode.
