I don't know specifically about the Vita but I used to emulate on the psp which had a great screen and physical controls but it felt very fragile and the battery life sucked. 3ds sucks ass for DS games and with anything else you just an extra blank screen taking up space. It might not make sense to you but there are benefits to playing on original hardware.
Everyone values things differently. Infinite save files that you can do anything with have no value to me. I value the legitimacy, uniqueness, and permanency of my save files. There is nothing wrong with either since everyone is different.
