Pokemon events were rarely ever good. In Mew's event you just went to an island and caught it like any other wild Pokemon.

Those were cool, but i think they were still lazy. I mean not really the celebi event and the arceus one, they're pretty well-built, but the old ones with mew, ho-oh, deoxys, were pretty halfassed. Of course, still better than just giving you the pokémon, this is bullshit.

We did, in 2005. Also same. I remember reading about that event in particular in some kind of magazine for kids and being pretty bummed that I couldn't have been there myself.

That being said, after X&Y I was hoping they'd bring the event locations/islands like in OP's pic back in ORAS, but tie them to the plot/make them post-game content instead of locking them away. I have mixed feelings about that "legendaries are found in rings of another legendary that can't be found in the game" thing they went with in the end.
