Red canonically has the highest level Pokemon of any game you face (unless this became outdated in recent years, however, the 3ds is it's own continuity so Red would still be the strongest fight in the original canon, up to the DS era)
Gold beat Red though, he also spends most of the game going around and eating other champions like Lance and Blue for breakfast.

Gold is Pokemons strongest trainer.

No but being the dev teams favourite player character sure is. The player character always wins, Red is the only one to return as an NPC, and all NPC dialogue goes on about how he beats everyone that isn't the current player character.

I wonder what would happen to these arguments if GF made another Red game with him wanting to start from scratch for some reason and said game had a PWT with all other player characters.

DP was the time when the anime really started to care about champions, we had Lance dropping more than 200 episodes in and Steven being irrelevant. Also no Kanto champion allowed due to the nature of the story.

I never liked Cynthia's team. They just threw a bunch of strong Pokémon in without any thought of a cohesive theme. They should have played up her archaeology and history hobbies in her team composition.
