Pokémon is structured to make money from basically everyone in a demopgraphic perspective, so from that point alone you couldn't be more wrong. There is a reason Pokémon is the biggest thing on fucking earth. It is child-friendly but epic and executed well-enough in terms of thematical creature design to appeal to everyone.

I think they lost heart after Gen 5. BW/BW2 werent successful enough for Pokémon so they shilled gen 1 hard for nostalgia bux and it stuck. They relized they didnt need to put in actual effort into their games as long as they pander to genwun.

BW is where the series started going to shit with it's linear story driven format. B2W2 at least had some nice post game features so I'll give that a pass but as a whole Gen 5 was underwhelming and people on here really only like it for their waifus.

I'm currently replaying BW and I can't seem to find what everyone hates about it. The region is linear? What's the other option? The gyms have to be done in order either way. The routes are interesting, and have little hidden areas if you REALLY want to explore. The characters are okay, and they add a nice twist to the usual simple plot of the Pokemon games. The Pokemon are all great (some better looking than others obviously), and nothing is too hand-holdy. Where is the problem? Honestly asking.

This always gets me. Target demographic for this series is 6-14 or so. In reality kids are playing the latest FPS game, screaming swear words and penis jokes trying to play adult. While adults play pokemon wanting to be kids again are actually the ones buying them. Gamefreak should stop trying so hard to cater to an audience listening to newest rap music playing latest meme shooter that doesnt want pokemon. Just admit adults play their shit and move on with the series with that in mind.

This is one of the hardest black pills. GF tried hard with Unova. Instead people rejected the games even with them having:
barely any new shillmons (maybe Zorark, but he didn't last)
150+ fresh Pokemon
an immense postgame
not too much handholding
mode difficulties
a decent amount of legendaries that before bw2 were more cryptic-like (Kyurem) and later given a real story to appease the fans of both gens 1&2 and 3&4
Unlimited TM use
Two rivals
An evil group that wasnt completely retarded
and Waifus
...all because "muh Kantomons". As a result GF decided to remove all of those creating Gen 6&7.

Tl dr:The anti-Gen 5 crowd are why GF decided to destroy Pokemon

Classic Pokemon ended at HGSS with its definitive game, but Modern Pokemon started really well in Gen 5, it was designed to be a new beginning.
Too bad something broke inside Masuda's mind after Gen 5 so he decided to crash the series with no survivors and we got endless superficial pandering accompanied by a quality nosedive in all areas of the games.

We're in a really bad timeline.
